Whangamumu Whaling Station

Saturday 11th October

After a 40 minute bus ride to the start of the Whangamumu Whaling track you will enter the Tangatapu wetlands, which is a story in itself. The wetlands exhibit a range of habitats from coastal to inland areas, providing diverse opportunities for wildlife.

After a long climb, you will be blown away by the view at the top. Time to take a drink and enjoy the peace. Descending into the harbour itself you will follow a path that whalers used to take in the early 20th century to one of New Zealand’s last remaining shore-based whaling stations.

There will be time to explore the waterfall, have a swim in the sea and relax! Bring your cameras.
